Wearing tennis shoes or in flats or in stilettos..Electro-, Sophisticated, Funky, lady- We the kind of girls who aint afraid to get down. Electric Ladies go and scream out loud! - Janelle Monae
| Overalls - Forever 21 Old | Jeffrey Campbell Lester Plated Oxford Shoes - Nasty Gal | Necklace - Forever 21 (old) | Lips - Ruby Woo Mac |
This post was absolutely inspired by Fisayo Longe's Ode to Ugly Shoes and Girls Who Wear Them.
When I wore these shoes in Boston I got stares. In Manhattan I got stares. In Ghana - the shoes are one thing but the exposed bra...it was way too much for my conservative country.
Sometimes I allow popular opinion in real life and on social media to get to me but with each post I strive to have the confidence to expose style that is true to me. My style cannot - and will never - be described in just one word. There are too many facets of me and my crazy weird self that exist in my head. And I refuse to hide any of them.

| Skirt: Chicwish also love this | Shoes: GoJane (on sale for $16!) | Crop Top: Forever21 |
Simple, cute, and flirty!
As much as I love designing my own clothes, I also love shopping for easy statement making pieces - like this Chicwish skirt. I honestly wish I could own every single one of their full skirts. They all have beautiful scenery printed on them and the quality is actually really good. Depending on what top I pair it with I could look amazing for work, church, or a going out for drinks with the girls!

| Jumpsuit: Asos (sold out) Love This one | Heels: GoJane | Necklaces: Purchased in Ghana |
Jumpsuit - Check!
Wide leg - Check!
Culottes - Check!
My obsession with all three things is perfectly mimicked in this outfit. Always my go to aesthetic. Such an easy chic and sophisticated look...and so effortless.
I always gravitate towards bright tropical colors because they compliment my dark skin so beautifully. For some reason I always shy away from white. I purchased this white culotte jumpsuit from Asos a while a go and I am in love with the way white compliments my skin tone.
When I'm wearing block colors I cannot resist from going crazy with the chunky necklaces. These African beads were purchased from local artisans in Ghana. It's two necklaces ... because sometimes more is... more!
